🛒 Ingredients

½ cup dried apricots, chopped

½ cup dried cranberries

½ cup raisins

¼ large red onion, finely diced

1 jalapeño, seeded & minced

¾ tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground ginger
-
½ tsp ground allspice
-
½ tsp ground cloves
-
¼ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

½ cup water
-
⅓ cup white sugar + ⅓ cup brown sugar

½ cup cider vinegar
-
Zest & juice of ½ orange (adds citrus brightness)

Optional add-ins:

⅓ cup toasted chopped nuts (pecans or almonds)

2–3 Tbsp port, brandy, or whiskey

Rehydrate the Dried Fruit
Soak apricots, cranberries, and raisins in warm water or juice for 10–15 minutes; drain. This plumps the fruit and ensures a lush texture -
Combine Base Ingredients
In a bowl, mix the rehydrated fruit with red onion, jalapeño, spices, and orange zest and juice. -
Sweeten & Simmer
Bring water and both sugars to a simmer in a medium saucepan, stirring until dissolved. Add the fruit mixture and vinegar (plus alcohol, if using). Bring to a gentle boil. -
Cook to Jam-Like Texture
Reduce heat and simmer 20–30 minutes—stirring occasionally—until thickened to a jam-like consistency. Longer simmer enhances depth Add Crunch & Finish Stir in toasted nuts off heat. Remove from stove and cool for 5 minutes.

Transfer to a jar, cover, and refrigerate overnight. This resting time intensifies flavor and texture .
